Essential Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Learning

• Deliver a dynamic, engaging English curriculum aligned with school standards and frameworks, while demonstrating a strong capacity for curriculum innovation and development.
• Design and implement lessons that balance inductive and deductive teaching approaches, allowing students to discover language patterns and rules while also receiving explicit instruction.
• Integrate technology meaningfully into daily instruction to enhance learning, collaboration, and student engagement.
• Organize and lead well-structured, interactive classroom activities that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and active participation.
• Use the CEFR framework to inform teaching, track language progression, and provide targeted support for learners at different proficiency levels.

2. Assessment & Progress Monitoring

• Design and implement a range of formative and summative assessments that accurately measure student learning and language development.
• Provide timely, specific, and actionable feedback to students to support their growth and self-reflection.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, using assessment data to inform instruction and differentiate learning.
• Use assessment results to communicate student progress clearly to parents, guardians, and administrators.

3. Student Development, Classroom Culture & Family Partnership

• Master’s degree in English, Education, or related field.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Learning

• Deliver a rigorous, engaging English curriculum aligned with school standards and external examination frameworks, while demonstrating a strong capacity for curriculum innovation and development appropriate to high school learners.
• Design and implement lessons that balance inductive and deductive teaching approaches, allowing students to engage with complex texts, develop analytical skills, and refine their own writing craft.
• Integrate technology meaningfully into instruction to support research, collaboration, and preparation for university-level academic expectations.
• Organize and lead well-structured, interactive classroom activities that promote critical thinking, debate, and sophisticated written and oral expression.
• Use the CEFR framework to inform instruction and support students across a range of proficiency levels, particularly in academic language development.

2. Assessment & Progress Monitoring

• Design and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with internal standards and external examination requirements (IGCSE, A Level, AP, etc.).

3. A Level / AS Level English Literature or Language.
4. Pre-AP English.
5. AP English Lan or AP English Lit.

Highly Desirable:

• Experience teaching multiple high school English courses (e.g., both IGCSE ESL and A Level Literature).

Basic Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
• PGCE or QTS, or an equivalent qualification.

Knowledge and Experience

• Two or more years of full-time, school-based teaching experience (required).
• Excellent working knowledge of primary curricula (required) – English National Curriculum preferred.
• Breadth of subject knowledge across the curriculum through Key Stage 2/Grades 4-6 (required).
• Experience of working with children who have English as an additional language (desirable).
• Experience of working in the independent sector (desirable).

• Teach A Level or AP Mathematics, developing detailed teaching plans and lesson plans aligned with curriculum specifications and students' needs. Contribute actively to mathematics subject research and curriculum planning.
